Determination of Inducible Clindamycin Resistance Amongst Clinical Isolates of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Kaduna, Nigeria

چکیده

For quite a long time, mainly due to fewer treatment options, Clindamycin have been regarded as an alternative drug effectively manage all Staphylococcus aureus infections. Strains with inducible clindamycin resistance (iMLSB phenotype) raise concerns because therapeutic failure may occur during treatment. is mostly in treating serious infections that cannot be treated by other antibiotics, it cause colitis or mild diarrhea. A double disc diffusion test (D-test) for detecting erythromycin-resistant methicillin-resistant S. was performed placing 15µg erythromycin proximity 2µg adjacent positions. isolates, D-test can help determine whether could used option (reported susceptible when the negative reported resistant positive). Twenty (20) out of 30 (thirty) isolates collected were confirmed determined per CLSI guidelines. Fifteen (15) Negative, 5 both Erythromycin and Clindamycin, none positive. should included mandatory method routine testing detect staphylococci optimum patients.

inducible clindamycin resistance in clinical isolates of staphylococcus aureus

conclusions in our study, inducible clindamycin resistance rate was 4%; so it is necessary to conduct d-test regularly by disc diffusion for this bacterium. resistance to erythromycin, clindamycin, ciprofloxacin and gentamicin was significantly higher in mrsa isolates than methicillin susceptible staphylococcus aureus (mssa), although the methicillin resistance prevalence was low. background st...

Inducible clindamycin resistance in clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus.

Background: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most important agents causing nosocomial infections. Inducible clindamycin resistance is an important concern, because common laboratory tests could not detect it. Objectives: The aim of this study was to detect the inducible clindamycin resistance by D-test method. Materials and Methods: A total of 209 clinical S. aureus isolates were collected a...

Inducible clindamycin-resistance in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius isolates from dogs and cats.

Inducible clindamycin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus is of great concern owing to its frequent association with false sensitivity in antibiogram and treatment failure. One hundred and two clinical isolates of Methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA) were identified by oxacillin, cefoxitin disc diffusion and oxacillin agar dilution method. Antibiotic susceptibility to erythromycin and clindam...

Inducible clindamycin resistance among Staphylococcus aureus isolates

Introduction: Clindamycin is considered an useful alternate drug in penicillin-allergic patients in the treatment of skin & soft tissue infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus spp. can be resistant to erythromycin through either erm or msr A genes. Strains with erm-mediated erythromycin resistance may possess inducible clindamycin resistance but may appear susceptible to clin...
